Three steps to a better IEP

01

Step One

Find the Root

We don't just fix surface symptoms. Together, we identify what's truly blocking your child's progress — whether it's trauma, unaddressed sensory needs, or communication breakdowns with the school.

02

Step Two

Negotiate

Learn to advocate confidently and collaboratively. Anna helps you explore every avenue to provide a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) that truly serves your child — backed by the law.

03

Step Three

Monitor

An IEP is only as good as its implementation. We make sure every detail is followed, every goal is meaningful, and every strategy passes the "stranger test" — clear enough for anyone to understand.

Anna Buerky with her daughter

Hi, I'm Anna — I've lived this.

As an adoptive, special needs mom, I've sat across the IEP table as a parent — confused, overwhelmed, and fighting to be heard. That experience became my calling.

I transitioned from concerned parent to certified advocate, earning my Master IEP Coach® credential and Trauma Trained Specialist designation so I could help other families navigate the same challenges with confidence and clarity.

I also serve as a Special Needs Church Consultant — because I believe that faith communities should be the most welcoming places on earth for families affected by disability.

My services are available nationwide virtually, and in-person in Metro Detroit.

Everything you need to know

Still wondering if Anna can help in your specific situation? These are the questions she hears most.

Yes — most IEP law is federal (IDEA) and applies nationwide. Anna works with families virtually across all 50 states. She also offers in-person services in the Metro Detroit area.

Yes! Anna can attend IEP meetings to support your voice — not to replace it. She's there to help you feel confident, ask the right questions, and ensure nothing is overlooked.

Anna is not a lawyer and does not give legal advice. However, she uses the foundation of the law (IDEA, FAPE, etc.) to support your advocacy, IEP requests, and negotiations with the school district.

Anna can help you request an evaluation and navigate the process from the very beginning — including what to do if the school denies your request (as happened with one of her clients who eventually got an IEP for her foster daughter).

Yes! The principles of inclusion and accessibility apply universally. Anna works with churches of all denominations and sizes, adapting her approach to honor each congregation's unique theology and culture.
